Well, sort of.
She has a mattress at least. We haven't bought the furniture for her room yet, but wanted to go ahead and start working on her sleeping in her own bed since we'll need the crib for the baby. So tonite when I got home from work we set her mattress and box springs on the floor and dismantled the crib.
As we were working on it we did a lot of talking about how a crib was a "baby bed", and she now had a big girl bed. She seemed rather nonplussed until we actually had everything together and I put her stepstool at the end of the bed.
Then, the fun began! She merrily climbed on and off the bed while we dismantled the crib. What was absolutely heart-meltingly adorable is that at one point, I was kneeling on the floor and she came running over and threw her arms around my neck. If you know Charlie, you know this is rare to the point of extinction
. I asked what the hug was for, and she said "Big girl bed!".
Here are some pics of her enjoying her new bed:

So anywho, it took a while to get everything rearranged in her room, so dinner was going to be on the late side. She usually goes to bed at 8, and we were getting dinner ready at 7:40ish. Charlie was in her room reading books and doing puzzles. Right as dinner was ready, I went in her room to get her and didn't see her.
And then suddenly I noticed her...

So, I guess she likes it.
I've got a hot date with Dave tonite! It's rather sad when our lives are reduced to getting excited about a dinner out alone while the in-laws take Charlie, but oh well. :o)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
I bought a plane ticket today to Oakland for the National. I could only find really sucky flight times, so I arrive at 11pm on Wed night and leave at 6:25 am on Sunday!! Ack! But at least the ticket wasn't ridiculously expensive. Traci has promised that she could stay awake long enough to pick me up on Wednesday, and I'll make some other arrangements on Sunday.
Lizzie is going to travel via car with my friend Jeff, who is driving to CA from Kentucky. Since she is a softer-natured girl I really didn't want to fly her (especially at this age), plus with heat restrictions in Alabama it would be sketchy anyway. Thankfully, Jeff is willing to take her, and I'm thrilled!
Charlie got 4, yes that's FOUR hours of sleep last night. We had an 8 am ring time, and I had visions of a screaming toddler dancing in my head, so I very nearly didn't go this morning. If she had fallen asleep again, we would have stayed in the hotel...but she didn't. So off to the show we went, and Lizzie was WB for a 3 point major today. :o) Guess I'm glad we got out of bed! Although now, I desperately want to crawl back in it...when the toddler doesn't sleep, no one sleeps. Sigh.
Well, almost. :o) I am busily packing up everything in the house to take to Louisville for the supported entry there. Charlie is coming with me, because my mom (who shows chihuahuas) is coming down from Ohio...we've done this 4 years in a row now! If you think you have to pack a lot of crap for a dog show, try throwing a toddler into the mix. LOL And I'm determined not to forget any of Charlie's important items this time...the last time we traveled we forgot her toothbrush/toothpaste, her blanket, her stuffed animals that she sleeps with (!!!), AND the DVD player! I'm amazed that we survived that trip. :P
My mom will be so happy to see Charlie! She hasn't seen her since Thanksgiving. I can't wait!
Lizzie won her class of 4 again (hey, 4 days in a row! At least these judges agreed on something...they didn't agree on much else LOL) but nothing else. I'm proud of her though...4 straight days is really tough, and I was watching her for signs of "I really don't want to do this", but she kept on keepin on.
And now, it is time for me to sleep. 8 am ring times 4 days in a row SUCKS ASS. Especially when you are driving an hour and 15 min every stinkin' day.
Lizzie was Reserve today, to a different bitch...I'm sensing a trend in her show career here. :o) Still, better than a slap in the face!
Nothing big. Lizzie won her class of 4 today in 6-9 bitches, but nothing else. WB was a CardiRidge bred bitch, Whoopie...she nice, older, trained, and a very nice mover. :o)
But the GREAT news is...she had a good time! I even got tail wags in the ring today!! Yippee! She was still a bit distracted by everything that was going on (meaning, she wasn't listening to me most of the time), but I'm just glad she had a good time. I hope it continues!
I shared this with Traci already (lucky girl), but I just LOVE this stupid picture so much I wanted to post it here too. I can't believe how big Charlie looks!
Just so you can't always accuse me of cropping myself out of the pic. It's a wretched picture though. :P Not sure which I like better between this pic and the other one...wish the angle was a little better on this pic.
