Suckiness times three

I honestly don't think I've ever been this tired in my life. :o) We moved on Thursday, into an apartment that will serve as our temporary home until they finish building our new house. The apartment is nice, thank god...however, it is on the third floor. I'm currently of the thought that there is nothing more cruel than making a chick who is 3 weeks away from delivering a baby walk up and down 3 flights of stairs several times per day.

On top of us uprooting her life by moving and changing her preschool, Charlie seems to be coming down with a cold. I was out of bed about 18 times last night to try to help her sleep. Poor girl! I feel so badly for her, however that is not making me feel any more rested today. Yes I know, this is all practice for next month when I have to deal with a toddler and a newborn at the same time. I am seriously questioning my sanity (along with the rest of you, to be sure).

On the good side, the closing on the old house is tomorrow and everything seems good. There's always some slight nervousness that something will fall through, but so far... *fingers crossed* And, they are making some tracks on our new house also. They are framing right now and I'm guessing will get it dried in (roof on and windows/doors in) by the end of the week or so. And, despite them screwing up several things very early on, at this moment everything looks good and the way we asked for it. I'll post pictures once I can locate my camera again. Yay!

Last day

Today...better but still a little frustrating. Lizzie was Best of Opposite in Sweeps, and then RWB. Again. So yes, it's frustrating for her to have reserves to so many 5-point majors, but I'm at least gratified that she's recognized for something. She's also totally naked and was not showing that well today, so I shouldn't complain too much. :P

Hope everyone else is having a good show weekend. We head home early tomorrow morning, didn't enter 4 days in a row and after seeing how pooped Lizzie was today, I'm very glad. It is a HUGE show down here and she's just D-O-N-E. And me too!

edit to add: Yesterday sucked. All-round judge Kilcullen and he did some very odd things. Found the same WB and BOB, but class placements were all over the place and inconsistent. Lizzie was 3rd of 4.

Today

Some of you know, but Lizzie was RWB today at the Bluebonnet specialty in an entry of 20 bitches. The WB/BOW was Telltails Show Girl, another TM puppy girl who is the spitting image of the ones that Denise Waiting has. :o) Nice girl.

Sweepstakes was a bit disappointing, with Lizzie getting dumped to 4th out of 5 in her class. I'm not quite sure what happened there, as at first it seemed as though the judge was deciding between Lizzie and the TM puppy girl (who was Best in Sweeps)...and then next I knew we were 4th. *shrug*

To Houston We Will Go...

Lizzie and I leave at o'dark thirty tomorrow morning for the long drive to Houston with our friend Leslie for the Bluebonnet Specialty. Of course, as soon as I sent in my entry, Lizzie started blowing coat, and she's currently pretty darned nekkid. In her case at least, she has plenty of body underneath the coat so I'm just trying to strip out as much of the scraggly undercoat as I can so she doesn't look like a ragamuffin.

Wish us luck! Entries are right around 50 Cardis, and 16 in puppy sweeps on Thurs and Sat. I'm planning to take my laptop, so hopefully I'll be able to check in at the hotel each afternoon/evening.

I told the dogs today

That they are darned lucky...because it looks like we have sold our house within a week of it hitting the market. And if I had had to keep this place clean for the next month(s) cleaning up after the three of them, I might have just killed 'em all! :D

At least the puking has stopped

Any time that I add some Evo into their diet, someone gets sick. Argh.

In desperation last week before we went out of town, I was forced to go to Petco and buy something that hopefully would stop the puking in time for people to watch our dogs for us. I ended up buying Pro Plan...the Selects version, Natural Salmon and Brown Rice formula. I'm still trying to figure out if there is a way to make the old dog less fart-prone, so thought I'd give this protein source a try.

And so far, honestly it's gone really well. Dave (who's lone job when it comes to the dogs is to pick up the yard) reports that the "end product" is small, well-formed, and in smaller amounts. Brady is still occasionally stinky, but not nearly like he was before. Course they all eat it, but none of them are picky. :P The ingredient list is good for a dry food, and seems to be very digestible.

I think for now, we'll give this a go and see what I think in maybe a month. I would still like to supplement them with protein sources, so I'll try to add that back in eventually.

Sleepover

Friends here have a medium-large mixed ridgeback? lab? greyhound? cur? who knows what that is right about Lizzie's age. Her name is Scarlett, and Leo and Lizzie stayed with them while we went to Denver this past weekend. They got some hilarious pictures of them:

I love the pictures of Leo on the beanbag. He has amber lighter eyes than Lizzie, if you get confused. I did however think this was great...our friends told us that previously, they'd had a hard time telling Leo and Lizzie apart sometimes. Which I can understand...they aren't THAT different in color and marking. But apparently, they made the observation while they were puppysitting that "Leo is the one with the stupid look on his face all the time."
