Fastest Win Pic EVER

And here it is. I'm so thrilled that it's a great picture! You can see that she's still not in full coat, as her pants are rather...thin...but still.

Interesting thing is that I think she looks better this year than last year, when she won the class! LOL

So quiet

Leo was definitely the party corgi in our house these days. That title used to belong to Brady, but now that he is nearly 10 he prefers to spend 95% of his day sleeping, and only 5% barking and playing. And Lizzie, although she's the youngest, is just a sweet little couch tater. She would go along with games occasionally, but is more often around the perimeter with the humans looking for an ear scritch or two.

So needless to say, our doggie household is very quiet now. And while part of me is really enjoying the quietude and general lack of "doggie mayhem", it also serves as a constant reminder of the absence in our house. My heart still hurts and will for a while. Lizzie keeps looking for her pillow. And I hope that a family and especially a little boy named Jacob, will soon be welcoming a new forever family member. Leo is still on his way across the country. Fingers crossed that he gets there safe, sound, and happy.

And a picture from his last day with me...in our hotel room at the National, he spent his free time plastered on the floor in front of the connecting door to the next hotel room over. There were dogs over there, and every time he would see/hear a dog walk past the door, he would whimper, scratch, wag, and generally try to fit himself underneath the door so that he could go say "hi".

All in the family

Lili was Best of Breed. Lili's daughter was Best of Winners...her littermate was 2nd in the 6-9 month class, for a minute I thought she was going to get Reserve Winner's Bitch LOL. Jojo's daughter got an Award of Merit. Jojo's son won his class. Lego (Lili's brother) had 2 puppies that placed in their classes. Lizzie was pretty much pulling up the rear of the family winning with her 4th place!

Pictures coming later once I get them off the camera and weed out. I can't imagine that anything will be spectacular due to the low light and my complete inability to work my camera correctly, but who knows.

Packing

I'm hoping to leave for the National tomorrow, depending on work. I need to get xx things done before I leave! We'll see. Lizzie shows on Friday in Open, and Thursday and Saturday I want to watch, talk, eat, and buy!

Leo is going with us, as he will be traveling to his new home in Albuquerque. A fellow exhibitor has graciously agreed to ferry him across the country for us. I know they are so excited to get him there...I hope he lives up to their expectations! He's such a fun and sweet dog. Our house will be quieter without the Play Boy around, for sure. Bittersweet, this hobby.

Did I pack my flippers?

So, 2 years ago I entered this little show down in central Alabama, Brierfield. It's an outdoor show in a lovely little state park, with a large campground. Doesn't usually pull that much of an entry, but several big handlers do like the show because it's on their way to the larger shows at Perry GA the following weekend. On the night before that show 2 years ago, there was a HUGE thunderstorm. Tents blew over, roads were closed because of flooding and downed tree branches, tornadoes in various parts of the state. That morning, I cautiously decided to go ahead and drive down to the show (2+ hour drive). I arrived to find the show site pretty much completely under water, but a bunch of reluctantly merry show people carrying dogs, wiping feet, mucking around. And I do mean "under water"...the rings were completely filled with standing water. There was mud EVERYWHERE.

So...today, I was entered in Brierfield for a single day, to show Lizzie to Lester Mapes. And guess what! That's right, last night there was again a big thunderstorm. And the rings were again completely, totally under water. I'm thinking that I shouldn't enter this show anymore.

Lizzie won a point, there were 3 bitches and no dogs. Rory was there and was BOB...she got a Group 1 yesterday under Mr. Mapes, so hardly surprising!

Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful. Of course, I'm not entered. :P

On another show note...Lizzie has hair!! Beautiful, soft, shiny hair. She looks mostly like herself again, and just in time for the National. Yay!
